Kenya weather

Rains are normally heavy but last short periods especially in the evenings. January to March are the hottest times of the year and July to August are the coolest periods of the year and this is a sharp contrast to those living in the US or Europe. At the Coast, 17 m above sea level, it is very hot and humid reaching 33 degrees Celsius. In Nairobi, 1600 m above the see, it gets to 26 degrees Celsius at it worst but during the cold season it can drop up to 6 degrees Celsius. Most visitors prefer the December to January season and the July to August season has less visitors. It is easier to find the wild animals during the dry season as the come to scramble for the scarce water. In the rainy season, the hotels are less expensive since there are fewer tourists.

Kenya has a temperate climate all year round. The higher altitude areas are cooler all year round. Rainfall can be expected between April to May and again between October and December. Snow is possible on Mount Kenya and frost on the other high mountain ranges.
