Walking Safaris in Kenya

Some places in Kenya are better accessed through walking and therefore walking safaris are interesting activities to do. You can get some support from your car then leave it at the hotel and then use your feet to explore. You need a good guide who knows the history and the terrain well. You can get to have a closer look at the people's culture and even be within meters of the animal in view. Several tour companies offer this package within their itinerary and you can even ask for one to be tailor made for you. There are packages like the luxury walking, expedition walking, and group safaris among others.

Favorite places to walk include the Karisia hills, Ewaso Nyiro river, the Mathews Range and several other places. It is important that you do not limit yourself to these places but also, be sure of the safety of your location. If you are in a park, use a warden or game ranger for your protection. If in other places, avoid abandoned roads. This is a great way to see other places which are not crowded by tourists.

Kenya Mountains and hills and natural areas provide many waking opportunities. Organised walking safaris are arranged by Ol Lolokwe Nature Trails (064 31405); Samburu Trails Trekking Safaris; Into Africa (UK 0114 255610); Ontdek Kenya (061 2030326); Savage Wilderness Safaris (020 521590) and Sirikwa Safaris (0733 793524).
