Kenya offers excellent dining opportunities. The blend of cultures that have existed in Kenya and still do has led to a rich diversity of food. The abundance of seafood, fresh vegetables, fruit and meat provides excellence in raw materials a number of which are exported to Europe.
Nairobi has a large diversity of restaurants and well used by locals and tourists and some having achieved international fame. Most types of cuisine can be found in Nairobi.
Kenyans are great meat eaters and Nyama Choma which is roasted meat is consumed by millions every day in the Choma Joints and cooked over a fire of charcoals. Ugali a porridge of maize is the traditional staple. Vegetarians are well looked after mainly due to the large number of vegetarian Indians who live in Kenya and operate some excellent vegetarian restaurants.
Kenyans enjoy beer and is served warm or cold. Local beers are White Cap, Pilsner and Tusker sold in brown half litre bottles. Guinness is also widely available. Wine is not really produced in Kenya although there is a local vineyard, at Lake Naivasha. South African wine dominates but wines from many other countries are available.

 The Carnivore is an award winning and world recognised restaurant. A "must do" restaurant first visited by the Managing Director of Eguide in 1980 soon after it opened. Famous for it's meat, eat as much as you can, the setting and the service. Vegetarians are also looked after! A short drive from the city centre and well known to all taxi drivers. Reservations are essential.
