Kenya fishing

Fishing is organised on the Indian Ocean and good catches are to be had. Good for sailfish, marlin, tuna and sharks. The sailfish run from October to February; the tuna in September; the Black Marlin between July and September and the striped marlin from December to March. There are a number of deep sea fishing operators:

Inland the trout fishing is excellent and lake fishing is possible on the main lakes and boats can be hired. Fly fishing in the Kenya rivers is popular and Kenyan fly fish ties are sold all around the world. A fishing licence is required and available from the Fisheries Department located at the National Museum (020 3742320). Lake Turkana, Lake Victoria, and Lake Naivasha are them main fishing lakes. For trout Meru National Park, Mount Kenya, Aberdares and and Mount Elgon are the places. Organised trips are made by fly Fishing Kenya (020 226 360) and Origins Safaris (020 312137).
