Kenya buses

Kenya hotels

The bus service in Kenya is run by either individuals or medium to large firms. There are both short and long distance bus services. There is a speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour and each bus should have a speed governor but this is not always the case since unscrupulous bus owners or bus drivers whom they employ tamper with the speed governors in order to arrive faster and get more passengers.

The government is doing a lot to restructure the major highways to avoid congestion but the problem of bumpy dusty roads is still there. Because of this, a well known bus coach for your long journey is recommended.

In Nairobi you will have a wide range of bus companies to choose from depending on the route you are using. Some have more buses than others and you end up paying less. Kenyan laws do not allow buses to carry standing passengers and you should ensure that you have a seat before the bus starts moving.

Some buses have music and a small screen at the front where passengers can watch music videos from. Other times the music is too loud especially if you want to relax. Ensure you are comfortable with the noise level before boarding one.
